Alex Jones Can’t Keep It Together

In case you missed Piers Morgan last night, you happened to miss arguably the most entertaining meltdown of the past few years. Radio show host and writer, Alex Jones, was invited on the show to confront Morgan about the petition, started by Jones, calling for his deportation due to his position on the easy availability of guns in America. Following the school shooting at Newtown, Morgan has been vocally critical of the gun laws in America. Jones took issue with this position and circulated a petition calling for Morgan’s deportation.
During the interview, Jones referenced instances in history when tyrants disarmed the people and began their systemic suppression of civilians.

“Hitler took the guns, Stalin took the guns, Mao took the guns, Fidel took the guns…”

Morgan proceeded to ask Jones questions regarding gun deaths in the U.S relative to gun deaths in the U.K. Jones admitted the rate of gun violence was low, but began to reference the increase in violent crimes via knives, bats, etc –A common argument for gun rights advocates. The interview escalated quickly when Jones declared

“I’m here to tell you, 1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms! Doesn’t matter how many lemmings you get out there on the street, begging for ‘em to have their guns taken. We will not relinquish them. Do you understand?! That’s why you’re going to fail, and the establishment knows, no matter how much propaganda, the republic will rise again!”

Jones went on to blame the pharmaceutical industry for selling “suicide mass murder pills.” Jones was all over the place badgering Morgan about his alleged criminal activities in Britain regarding the phone hacking scandal. At one point he challenged Morgan to invite him onto the show again so they can get in a boxing ring to prove his toughness. Arguably the zinger of the night was when Jones called Morgan “a hatchet of the New World Order!”

Jones referenced the contentious “fast and furious” scandal as well, asking Morgan to address that issue. As the interview continued along in the weeds Jones found himself barking about building 7 and the alleged government cover-up. Jones didn’t outright blame the Bush administration for being behind the 9/11 attacks this time. He used the soft retort of “criminal activity within the military industrial complex” as the culprits behind the attacks, referencing videos on his website to prove there was a the cover up by the government.

The controversial radio host went on to declare that America was born on guns and whiskey. He also admitted that we do live in a violent society. What is perplexing about his argument is the fact that he wants to arm this “violent society” with more dangerous weapons in hopes of self preservation and protection from a tyrannical government. Jones ended the debate/rant by demanding Morgan go back to the country which took all the guns, scolded him for being a redcoat and trying to tell Americans what to do.

Regardless of your position on guns, the “New World Order,” Building 7, big pharm companies and the other things Jones concerns himself with, his behavior on the show was completely uncalled for. If you want to speak out against “the man” you do it in a civilized manner. Jones completely undermined his message yesterday. Yelling outlandish rhetoric doesn’t win over the hearts and minds of Americans, it only further alienates your position. If you are an American who advocates on behalf of gun ownership, it would be best if you stood as far away as possible from Jones and his brand. This kind of propaganda is toxic and dangerous. Many of his followers are praising his performance on the blogosphere, but, outside of “Alex Jones world,”aka the real world, we all just think he’s nuts.
